This committee advocates for occupational therapists, current legislation affecting both the client and the profession, and to increase awareness of services provided by OT. Presentations to high schools, undergraduate students, and other local groups are given to provide information about becoming an OT. Partnering with AOTPAC (our legislation group working in D.C.) our goal is to bring hot topics and legislation to our fellow students and be a part of improving our profession. The general public does not always know what occupational therapy is, it is our challenge to enlighten as many people as we can in a creative and exciting way. Overall, we strive to increase awareness about pressing issues and provide information about our services and the populations we serve.
